With the world becoming progressively advanced and more knowledge-savvy, more and more students are pursuing a master’s degree. The increase in demand has been spurred by global shifts toward a technology-driven, information-centered economy in which the need for highly trained, professionals in management, finance, information technology and health-care has skyrocketed. At KDU, two different postgraduate programmes are offerd at the Petaling Jaya campus. They are:

IMI MBA in International Hospitality Management from IMI University Centre, Switzerland

This is a 12-month intensive course designed for students with qualifications and/or experience in hospitality management who wish to develop their skills for intermediate and middle management positions.

Why a MBA in International Hospitality Management? The travel and tourism sector, which encompass the hospitality industry, is the largest economic sector and job generator in the world, contributing to 10.4% of the world’s gross domestic product and creating 1 in every 12 jobs worldwide (WTTC,2007).

This sector comprises a multiplicity of industries including, but not limited to hotels, resorts, restaurants, transportation (airlines, cruise liners & public transports), travel agencies, and other service oriented industries. The MBA in Hospitality Management teaches students invaluable conceptual and managerial skills to enable them to tackle specific issues and problems related to the tourism and hospitality industry.

The programme sets out to equip students with the skills necessary for eventual higher level of management in the hospitality industry and focuses on strategic planning and development, and managing service organizations in a regional and international setting.
