Why Hospitality & Tourism at KDU College?

    A SWISS EXPERIENCE
The Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts @ KDU begins with being the only Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts School in Malaysia that offers a complete Swiss Experience. Our prestigious partner is IMI University Centre (IMI) from Lucerne, Switzerland, the birthplace of the hotel industry.

The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) at KDU College signed an MOU with IMI in 1997 which enabled the College to offer the IMI Programmes in Malaysia. In so doing KDU became the first private college to offer students, at both the Petaling Jaya and Penang campuses, the opportunity to obtain prestigious Swiss qualifications without having to go abroad.

One of the unique features of the KDU–IMI program is the exposure to industry placement in reputable local or international hotels and restaurants where practical skills are enhanced in real-life situations. Read about Dennis' Industrial Training in Germany.

KDU–IMI offers the following courses: Diploma in International Hotel and Tourism Management, BA (Hons) in International Hotel and Tourism Management (Majors available: Hotel & Tourism Management, Events Management or European Culinary Management), Diploma in Professional Chef Training, Diploma in Culinary Arts, Diploma in Asian Culinary, Higher Diploma in European Culinary Management and Executive MBA in International Hospitality Management.

Students can also opt to transfer to IMI in Switzerland to continue either the Higher Diploma of their choice and then the related BA (Hons) degrees awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University , UK. Students following the Culinary Arts Programme can join the prestigious BA (Hons) degree in European Culinary Management also awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), UK. Finally, students may if they so wish also top up their studies with an MBA at IMI in Switzerland.

    HIGHLY REGARDED BY THE INDUSTRY
KDU graduates are employed as highly regarded specialists in renowned hotels and service related industries all over the world. Our graduates have a world of opportunities in which to use knowledge they have gained with an IMI qualification.

IMI SWITZERLAND - HOSPITALITY AMBASSADOR AT BEIJING OLYMPIC GAMES
IMI was chosen by Presence Suisse of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and by Luzern Tourismus AG to be its hospitality ambassador at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

IMI was selected based on its academic excellence whose students are multilingual, multinational and have experience in the Swiss hospitality industry.  For all participants, Beijing provided a unique environment which enhanced career opportunities and allowed students to get a truly international experience rarely available.
