KDU Square which is also the college cafeteria was launched on 24
th
January 2007 by the Executive Chairman of KDU College, Dato Teo Chiang Quan.
The Square is another department under the wings of the School of
Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, KDU College Petaling Jaya.
The Square consists of 5 different stalls, each with its unique design
and identity. All 5 stalls are fully-equipped with the latest in
European Culinary and restaurant equipment and technology. Each stall
will give students in the college a culinary dining experience with
competitively-priced dishes.

Students from the Bachelor of Arts, Hotel and Tourism and Chef
programmes will get hands-on experience in the running of the
respective stalls. They will be asked to come up with the marketing and
advertising strategies, planning of the menus, menu costing and of
course the preparation of delectable cuisines as part of their course.
There is the Budget corner which offers Chinese, Malay and Indian
dishes. It also offers both Chicken and Claypot rice. Students in this
area will get to practice the
cook-chill systems which are widely used in the industry now.

Next is the Ethnic stall where dishes are prepared a la minute (on the
spot) ranging from fried rice to fried noodles. Those who love soup or
claypot noodles will not be disappointed as these are also available.
The Deli stall is manned by Chef students in their final semester.
Everything from the different roasts (beef and chicken) with its
accompaniments, a la carte pasta dishes to the all-time favorites -
chicken chop, fish and chips and steak - are prepared right before your
very eyes.
You should not leave The Square without trying the Café. This is
another stall manned by the BA, Hotel and Chef students. There are
sandwiches made from an assortment of breads accompanied with an array
of fillings. These are served with a salad of your choice and desserts
of the day. For those who need their daily shot of caffeine, a
cappuccino, latte or ice blended coffee are all also available.

To quench your thirst, head for the Beverage stall. It offers an array
of drinks ranging from tea to coffee, Chinese ‘tong sui’ and fruit
juice. Toasts, waffles, homemade ice cream, fruits and rojak are also
available for a quick snack anytime of the day.
